dc.description	Paul Achtemeier dalam reviu terhadap buku karya Ernst Käsemann berjudul The Testament of Jesus: A Study of the Gospel of John in the Light of Chapter 17 yang diterbitkan tahun 1966 memberi penilaian bahwa buku itu merupakan “a revolution in the theological interpretation of John”. Marianne Meye Thompson membuka monografi berjudul The Incarnate Word dengan pernyataan “One of the most influential, albeit highly controversial, studies of the Fourth Gospel in recent decades is Ernst Käsemann’s, The Testament of Jesus.” Tidak heran bila buku itu kemudian diterbitkan ulang pada tahun 2017 dan diberi kata pengantar oleh Paul Anderson dengan menyatakan, “Among the most provocative New Testament scholars of the twentieth century, Ernst Käsemann tops the list, and his most striking work is The Testament of Jesus.” Buku The Testament of Jesus mendapat julukan buku revolusioner, kontroversial, dan karya istimewa. Penilaian itu sudah cukup bagi kita sekarang untuk melakukan peninjauan ulang gagasan dan konsep yang diusung buku The Testament of Jesus.
